Event Description

A hands-on workshop led by artist and sculptor Steve Gerberich

Fresh from Gerbo’s garage: FLAPPETS! Pull a string, Zing! FLAP goes the tails, fins, and wings! Choose to build one of many whimsical animal species – a Sockwhale, Glovebird, or even a butterfly. This newly developed inquiry-based workshop combines common materials and employs simple mechanical interactions. A very involved workshop in which participants will be in charge of their own drilling, jig sawing, hot gluing, knot tying, screwing, rigging, painting and more. And with all of this activity comes experience with concepts such as pivot points, ratios, expression, structure, balance, action, and gravity.

Age: eight and older, adult supervision required
Cost: $15 Museum members; $20 non-members
Reservations required: Purchase tickets starting December 11 by calling 919.220.5429 ext. 313
