Event Description

Cary Diwali: Festival of Lights

From the website:
Come experience the wonder of India at Cary Diwali 2009. The theme of this year's Cary Diwali is "Padharo Mhare Des" - Welcome to the Vibrant State of Rajasthan.

Literally meaning "the land of royalty", Rajasthan is the largest and may be the most 'Colorful' state of India. Its rich history is filled with stories of great warriors and their chivalry, romance, glory and tragedy. Legends of heroism and romance still resound from its spectacular architecture and delicate carvings that still stand to narrate its tale of a bygone era. Rajasthan is often described as a huge open-air museum with invincible forts, magnificent palaces, serene lakes, sand dunes and lush green forests with its wildlife. This year we hope to capture the traditions, legends, and spirit of Rajasthan in all facets of our Diwali festivities.

The whole day event will include extravagant performances of music and dance by local talent from the community. The entertainment program will culminate in the evening with a performance by a professional artist. There will be an exhibition show casing various cultural aspects of Rajasthan.

The event will also include excellent Indian food and various shopping avenues by top vendors from the triangle area and outside. Cary Diwali is co-sponsored by Hum Sub, Inc. and the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. For more information, please call
