PBS 2010 Writing Contest for Kids (K-3)

"Hey, you guuuuys!" Who else, besides me, remembers that bellowing call of The Electric Company on PBS? I loved that show. . . and evidently, it's back and being used as a call to solicit submissions from your K - 3 writers and illustrators.

Officially, it's called the "PBS Kids Go! Writer's Contest" and submissions will be accepted up through March 26th by any child in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade. All of the information is online--be sure to read the eligibility and entry guidelines and then check out the cool prizes--laptops, digital cameras and MP3 players. These prizes are way cooler than anything I ever won.

Go here for the overview of the contest and to hear "Hey, you guuuuys!"at least one more time:

Spend some time, too, checking out the 2009 national winning entries:

There are some really charming ones in there. PBS has done a great job showcasing these winning stories from last year--you can read them online, flip through and see the great illustrations and listen to the stories, as well!

Get writing and get your stories submitted before the end of March. National winners will be announced in July. Have fun!!
