NC Museum of Art Building Will Temporarily Close Sept. 7 Through April 2010

On Monday, September 7, the existing North Carolina Museum of Art building will temporarily close through April 2010, as the museum's staff begins moving nearly 800 works of art into the new galleries and renovations to the existing lobby commence. For the safety of visitors and protection of the collection, the building cannot remain open during these critical operations. The 164-acre Museum Park will remain open during regular operating hours throughout the construction process. Arts in the Museum Park, the annual summer series of movies and concerts in the amphitheater, will continue uninterrupted through the end of the September. During the transition phase, the Museum will host lectures, films, and other events throughout the community, as part of “Museum on the Move.”
