Discover Arts Academy is a year-round trackout camp program designed to appeal to the Inner Artistin all children from Kindergarten to 6th grade.yes""> Every week at Discover Arts is dedicated to one of three focus areas – Dramatic Arts, Culinary Arts and Visual Arts. Campers who are tracked out for three weeks are able to experience all three disciplines in a fun, relaxed and
interactive way.

Our Dramatic Arts sessions are led by the Raleigh Little Theatre, one of the country’s oldest continuously operating community theatres. Through Theatre games
and exercises, campers will explore ways to express their own unique creativity
in an atmosphere which promotes the importance of teamwork. Campers will learn how to speak with confidence, become a character and act out stories they’ve
created themselves.

Zacki Murphy of Zacki’s Catering Creations taps into her eclectic background as a professional model, restaurant owner, etiquette instructor and caterer to introduce children to the wide world of food during our Culinary Arts sessions. Campers will gain an appreciation for food origins, preparation and creative presentation in a fun, yet educational way, while emphasizing manners
and common courtesy.

Since 1986, Artspace has been home to more than 100 professional artists in downtown Raleigh. It has become one of the largest open studio environments in the country and the premier organization of its kind in the state. Discover Arts Academy welcomes Artspace instructors who will teach campers during the Visual Arts weeks everything from
abstract painting to environmental sculpture.

The Discover Arts Academy of Cary will be up and running soon. For now, email the academy for additional details.

My sons are participating in the Culinary Arts week now. So far they have made tomato soup, banana bread, mexican wedding cookies, chicken black bean enchiladas, jam and peanut butter and today is only Wednesday. They are heading to the Farmer's Market to learn about purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables. I know they are only 8 and 11 but, I'm thinking it might be time to assign them a night to cook dinner.
