The first love triangle I ever experienced was through Archie, Betty and Veronica in the "Archie" comics when I was 13 years old. I couldn't get enough of their endless romantic adventures and spent all summer reading every one of them I could find. I guess you could call it my first real introduction to teen love! I always pulled for Betty, and most of them time, it seemed, Archie ended up choosing her.
No more! On August 19 "Archie Marries Veronica Part 1: The Proposal" (#600) arrives in specialty comic shops. It will be available at newsstands Sept. 1, and it appears, based on the title and the cover, that Archie plans to propose to Riverdale's richest beauty instead. What will happen to sweet-natured Betty? I may have to pick up a copy to find out--and relive my 13th year at the same time!
