Two items pertaining to Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students are in discussions right now on Capitol Hill.
A. The Talent Act. Purpose: to aid gifted and high-ability learners by empowering the nation's teachers act.
B. Continuation of funding of the Javitz Act. The Javits Gifted & Talented Students Education program has been de-funded for 2011 as part of $38 billion in cuts to this year's spending levels agreed to by the White House and Congress in order to pass a compromise "continuing resolution."
