A Majority of Wake County Elementary Schools Could Start as Late as 9:30 Beginning Next School Year

In an effort to save money that would be spent on hiring more school bus drivers, WCPSS Administrators have proposed starting 71 of the county's 103 elementary schools at 9:30 a.m. and dismissing at 4:00 p.m. beginning next school year. (Most now run from 9:05 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.) The new WCPSS school board will vote on this proposal Tuesday.
