Flintstones and Jetson’s on Saturday mornings,
Climbing through treetops heedless of warnings,
Running through meadows while blackbirds take wing,
Unbridled joy of the children in spring.
Fireflies luminate woodlands in splashes,
Crickets and peepers hold symphonic bashes,
Saltwater sprays of shells washed upon land,
Children in summer build castles of sand.
Spiced cider and pumpkins and rides at the fair,
Red and gold leaves whirl and dance through the air,
Goblins and princesses, candy to haul,
Thanksgiving blessings for children of fall.
Waking on Christmas to ice-dazzled trees,
Fireplace crackles while winds whine and wheeze,
Snowmen and snowballs, North Star is aglow,
Wintertime children etch angels in snow.
