Win Two Tickets to See 'A Christmas Story' at Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 8

UPDATE: The winner will be announced at 12:30 instead of 12:00 (I forgot that today is an early release day so I'll be picking up my kids at 12:00. Also, The Dec. 7 show sold out before our tickets were pulled, so DPAC let me know the tickets are now available for the Dec. 8 show at 7 p.m. We apologize for this inconvenience.

In association with Hot Summer Nights, Broadway Series South will present the holiday classic "A Christmas Story," Dec. 7–24 in A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Written by Jean Shepherd and adapted by Philip Grecian, "A Christmas Story" follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. All elements from the motion picture are included in the show.

You can win two tickets to the opening night show Tues., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. from Triangle TRACKS and Broadway Series South by posting "A Christmas Story" moment in our comments section below. Just share your favorite scene from the movie OR a "Ralphie" experience that also happened to you, a friend or a family member, and you'll be included in a random drawing for the tickets that will take place Dec. 3 at 12:30 p.m. Some examples from the movie include:
  • Ralphie sets out to get a Red Ryder BB Gun (if you or someone you knew had one of these, please share your memories and experiences with it)
  • Ralphie stuck his tongue on a frozen lamppost
  • Ralphie had to deal with school bully Scut Farkus
  • Ralphie tried to help his dad fix the car, but dropped the screws and says a really bad word

I like the part when Randy is under the cabnet saying, "Daddy's going to kill Ralphy". That reminds me when one of mine gets in trouble the others gets sad.

I love the scene where Ralphie tells his Mom that he heard the bad word from his friend. Then the Mom calls the friends Mom and tells her what Ralphie said and you can hear the other Mom going after her son and he has no idea why she is mad. Ralphie's Mom just hangs up the phone! Too funny!!!
