Win Two Tickets to See 'A Christmas Story' at Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 8

We watch this movie every year during the Christmas break! And it's for the heater scene that all of us parents can relate to as well as that darn lamp! This year our daughters are getting Red Ryder BB guns but and a surprise LEG LAMP. I'm sure it will be a hit! Happy Holidays.

We wactched the movie over Thanksgiving break. It's a tradition for us to watch our favorite Christmas movies that weekend and this was the 1st one this year. There are so many scenes that I love it difficult to chose. One of my top favs is the scene at the end. The Chinese Christmas. I love the fa-ra-ra-ra and the smiling duck :)

I especially enjoyed the scene when Ralphie took the "triple dog dare" and stuck his tonge to the lamppost, because it reminds me of a time when we were kids and my dad told us of the time that that had actually happend to him. Of course, we had to try it back then but having been raised in Southern California, we had to use an aluminum cup that had been in the freezer for a day. Amazing at the time!

We love Christmas Story and watch it every year on Christmas eve and throughout Christmas day! My son Jacob looks identical to Ralphie. If he had acting experience we would have had him try out for this show. Ha!

Our favorite scenes include: Tha mashed potato scene, The lamp scene, and the bunny scene. The mom reminds me of me! To funny!

my child reminds me of ralphy. She wants a BB gun (she's only 6 mind you) Her granddads were telling her about their Red Ryder BB Guns as kids and she looked at them and said "Well I don't want a red one I want a Pink one!" Got to love kids and the way their minds work.

This is a friends story that I just love....

My friends young son "Sam" had been very anxious about Santa being able to get into their home on Christmas Eve as they did not have a fireplace. My friends husband is very handy and had been slowly renovating different parts of their home. He had finished most of the projects and his latest project was finishing the floor in their attic. One day Sam and his mom were sitting in the living room when suddenly they heard an enormous crash and a foot suddenly appeared through the ceiling along with a loud expletive. There was a brief startled moment when both Sam and his mom gazed at the leg dangling from the ceiling, mouths agape, before Sam suddenly turned to his mom with his hands clasped together and exclaimed excitedly- "MOMMY- IT'S SANTA CLAUS!"

We love that movie so much that:
*Every time we eat mashed potatoes either my husband or I snorts and says to our youngest "Show us how the piggies eat!"
* I make meatloaf only to hear the line "Meatloaf, smeatloaf, double-beatloaf!"
*Sometime... we call our dogs the Bumpus' Hounds.
*Our son got his lip seriously stuck to a popsicle the other day and my husband and I raced for our camera to document the "A Christmas Story" moment!
*My son almost wants to taste a bar of soap.
*I love to run across the room and yell "A plus, plus, plus, plus, plus" when my son brings home good work from school.
*We actually have an exact replica of the leg lamp that my husband puts out in our front window every year. It came in a giant box labeled "F-R-A-G-I-L-E" and our boys definitely like to touch the stockings. Our neighbors make it an annual thing to stand outside and gawk.
Shall I go on?
