North Carolina Zoo Officials Saddened by Stillbirth of Baby Gorilla

North Carolina Zoo officials are deeply saddened to announce that the baby gorilla expected to be born this summer has been lost to a stillbirth.



Keepers at the Forest Glade Gorilla Exhibit arrived around 7 a.m. Thursday to find that female gorilla Jamani had given birth overnight. But according to General Curator Ken Reininger, “they were heartbroken to discover” that the baby had apparently been stillborn.

N.C. Transportation Museum Transitions to a Self-Supporting Operation July 1 By Charging Admission

As determined by the 2011-2012 General Assembly state budget, which became law this week, the N.C. Transportation Museum will transition to a self-funded operation beginning July 1, 2011. The change is being made in light of current economic conditions combined with the viability of this State Historic Site to generate revenues needed to operate.

N.C. Zoo Admissions Increase July 1

For the first time in a decade, admission prices to the North Carolina Zoo will increase July 1, when costs will rise $2 in each of the park’s three ticket categories.



Effective with the start of the 2011-2012 fiscal year for all state agencies, zoo admission will go from $10 to $12 for adults, $6 to $8 for children 2-12, and $8 to $10 for senior citizens and college students. WCPSS Trial Simulation of Assignment Proposal Extended Through June 24
