Fall Fun

There are so many great things about living around this area.  We are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from lakes, the ocean, mountains, a great zoo, museums, and so much more.

The fall, in particular, is such a great time of year for family activities.  Our family has a tradition of going to Phillips Farm in Cary every year.  The kids always have such a great time there.  We also make a family day of going to the NC State Fair each October.

Fall Fun

There are so many fun things to do in the fall. We love visiting a farm (Hillridge, Vollmer, or Page), the Farmers' Market, and just going to a park to collect leaves. This weekend we'll be heading to the State Fair. My older son and husband are looking forward to their first Y-Guides campout of the year and the Fall Outing, and both of my boys are excited about Halloween and all the fun events to which they will wear their costumes. This year we have Green Lantern and Red Power Ranger!

Fall Fun

Our most favorite thing about the fall is baking apple pies, visiting Hillridge farms and the upcoming holidays!

Hops on Pop

Thank you October for finally bringing fall into focus! It's time to enjoy the outdoors without breaking a sweat. For our family, crisp fall weather + lazy Sunday afternoons usually = a trip to one of downtown Durham's family-friendly beer gardens. Yep, you heard me. Family-friendly.

We like Sundays because even though these hidden gems are open all weekend long, Sundays are a little more relaxed in terms of the size of the crowd, which for our active…

Legos, Legos & more Legos

If you're considering hitting this weekend's Lego KidsFest at the the Raleigh Convention Center, Here are some tips:

- Eat well before you go & pack a snack. (food is pricey & you're in for a long day of play)

- Don't be rushed. (crowds are expected to grow through the weekend)

- Don't stress about the lines. (our kids had the most fun in the piles & piles of Legos in the "free play" areas)

- Set a $ spending limit before you go (so many great options in the… Continue
